What type of weather can I expect?
Late October is one of the most beautiful times to cruise the Danube, with crisp autumn weather, spectacular fall colours, and fewer crowds. Daytime temperatures typically range from 10–16°C, while evenings and early mornings can be much cooler at 3–8°C. Light rain showers are possible, and misty mornings occasionally occur, adding to the atmosphere and, on rare occasions, causing slight delays to sailing. While sightseeing is generally comfortable, it can feel quite chilly on the open deck, particularly when the ship is moving, so dressing in layers is recommended.
The scenery along the Danube is at its most picturesque, with the riverbanks transformed into vibrant shades of gold, orange, and red. Charming towns and cities such as Vienna, Budapest, Bratislava, Melk, and Passau are less crowded than during the summer months, making exploration even more enjoyable. Guests can also experience the region's autumn harvest season, with local wine festivals, seasonal cuisine, roasted chestnuts, apple strudel, pumpkin dishes, and the first mulled wines of the season adding to the authentic European atmosphere.
